Radio listeners and television viewers know Hans Rosenthal (1925–1987) as a cheerful quiz-show host. However, in his childhood and youth, Rosenthal suffered persecution as a Jew in Nazi Germany. He survived the Nazi dictatorship hidden in a set of allotment gardens in Berlin, with the help of some brave local women. After the end of the war and the liberation, Hans Rosenthal began his radio and television career.
