At 10:30 a.m. of June 24, 1922 Walther Rathenau started from home in Koenigsallee 65 to the foreign ministry. At this place the assasinators throw a hand grenade from their car overtaking Rathenaus and shot on him. The assassination aimed to kill him as a Jew and as a symbol of the Weimar Republic. The perpetrators have been kept and judged. One of them commited suicide while beeing captured. The memorial stone of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany was erected here in October 1946.
