When Hans Rosenthal (1925-1987) died on 10 February 1987, he received a grave of honor from the federal state of Berlin at the Jewish cemetery in Heerstraße, which was opened in 1956.
During his lifetime, Hans Rosenthal was a popular entertainer who not only won numerous German media prizes, such as the “Goldene Kamera” and the “Bambi”, but was also awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz (Order of Merit) in 1972 and the Verdienstkreuz 1 (Cross of the Order of Merit, First Class, of the Federal Republic of Germany). Rosenthal’s charitable work has been carried on since his death by the Hans Rosenthal Foundation, which was named in his honor.
