In the bonafide publishing house that was located here, false passports were also produced from 1942 to help Jews living underground in Berlin to escape. Among the employees of the company who helped to save lives was the Jewish resistance fighter Edith Wolff (1904-1997), who worked as an office clerk from 1942. Together with Recha Freier and others, she helped prepare Jews for emigration to Palestine. From 1943, Wolff was a founding member of the Zionist group “Chug Chaluzi”, which helped persecuted Jews to flee. On 19 June 1943 she was deported, but survived incarceration in concentration camps and prisons.
