Felice Rachel Schragenheim was born in Berlin in 1922. The journalist and poet met Elisabeth Wust in 1942. The two women fell in love and Schragenheim moved into Wust’s apartment (see Home of Elisabeth Wust). After being arrested by the Gestapo in the late summer of 1944, Felice Schragenheim was deported via Theresienstadt to the Auschwitz concentration camp. She probably died on a death march from Groß-Rosen to Bergen-Belsen. Schragenheim’s relationship with Elizabeth Wust served as the basis for the film “Aimée & Jaguar”, which itself drew upon a book by Erika Fischer.
